Radio Debut in the Can

For those of you following the plot, I’ve been apprenticing at the local community radio station here in Austin, KOOP, with the goal of getting my own show.

Competition is tough, there are a lot of talented programmers out there, with great ideas for their shows. I was able to get into the studio tonight, and stream a short, 30 minute version of my show, “From the Other Side of the Mirror”. The concept behind the show is explained at the beginning.

So please beg my indulgence, here is it, captured from the live stream. Let me know what you think, if you’d listen to something like this.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I know who you are.

  1. Having trouble buffering the stream right now, but really enjoyed the intro and setup for the first song. Don’t know if you were going for those production levels or not, but it sounded to my ears like a syndicated NPR show. –Evan

  2. This sounds great, John! I would definitely listen.

  3. Fascinating show John, I’d listen. I like how each artist makes the song their own. Which song is next?

  4. hey thanks Evan!! means a lot to me. if u have trouble listening thru WPress, can download it here http://www.sendspace.com/file/ojlih3

  6. TU Dave! Well, this is the show demo and application, if I get the show, next up is …hmm. still lulling it over. If I don’t get the show, I can make these shows at home as a podcast, and post em’ up. Thanks or stopping by.

  8. Hey John!! I really liked your show! You’re easy on the ears, friend! 😉 I will definitely tune in, so let me know how it goes!

  9. Thanks for stopping by Lauren. I hope I get to do this every week so stay tuned for more news.

  10. Hey JT – sounds really great – but who’s that deep-toned Scots guy impersonating you? I like the idea that the theme linking the music on the show will vary – not always different versions of the same song – it’ll be fun waiting to see what direction you come up with each week. Best of luck!

  11. Thx for stopping by Peter, glad you liked the idea and show! Will keep you posted.
