R.I.P. Johnny Winter

He’s gone, another from a glorious generation. Age catches up with us all.

Captured in pristine quality, the video is one of my favorite examples of Johnny Winter burning through a set in the early ’70′s. His guitar skills were honed and he will forever rest in power as time passes. Long live the blues and Johnny Winter’s legacy!

Morrissey Hasn’t Cheered Up, But Has Some New Famous Friends

Morrissey unveils 2 new spoken word videos.

The 1st one, featuring fellow animal rights activist and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, focuses on Earth Is The Loneliest Planet. Watch it here http://vevo.ly/5rTrdV

The 2nd video features Nancy Sinatra, called World Peace is None of your Business. Both are political by nature, and paint a gloomy picture of society with little hope for our future.

Not cheering up with old age then is he?

Never been a diehard Zeppelin fan, however I really like this new, official stripped down version of Whole Lotta Love.

The video appears to be cut from various live performances….turn it up loud for a few quiet surprises…

A FILM ABOUT LIFE, DEATH and SUPERMARKETS

I’ve always admired Jarvis Cocker and his band Pulp’s brand of sophisticated pop music, so am very pleased to see a new documentary coming out about him and the band.

Called “A Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets” it threatens to be a fitting homage to a hugely influential outfit…they were never common or ordinary so enjoy.

Small Pleasures from the Rolling Stones

•May 12, 2014 • 2 Comments

One of the Stones’ most exquisite Small Pleasures — you need to love country music an awful lot to play it so well whilst taking the piss both so thoroughly and so affectionately. Plus a virtuoso miming job by Mick, and excellent deadpannery by Messrs Watts and Wyman …

Harry Dean Stanton

200 movies and counting ?

Harry Dean Stanton has always been one of my favorite actors, a man who never quite got his due and whose face tells his story. At long last a new documentary arrives to chronicle the man’s journey and impact.

When I grow up I want to be Harry Dean Stanton.
